First Ever Human Home Run, Fireworks Part of Spinners July 4 & 5 Celebration

LOWELL, MASS. - The Lowell Spinners, Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, are celebrating Independence Day with a bang, literraly, and the fun the carries over to July 5 for the first ever "Human Home Run," with yet another post-game fireworks show to follow.
The highlight of the Independence Day bash is the Human Home Run, to be authored by world record holder David Smith, Sr. (185 feet, 10 inches), who's flown through the sky over everything from the Grand Canyon to the famous Las Vegas fountains.
An idea five years in the making, Smith will be shot from a cannon located just past second base over the outfield wall to a landing area just in front of the Aiken Street Bride in what will be the world's first ever "Human Home Run!"
"When it comes to human cannonballs, David Smith is the best of the best," said Spinners Vice President Jon Goode. "This is an idea we discussed years ago and he saved it for the Lowell Spinners. Five years in the making, this is going to be a night you will not want to miss."
The fun kicks off July 4, with the Spinners playing at LeLacheur Park for the first time in franchise history. The Spinners played in Lowell on Independence Day of their inaugural season at Cawley Stadium, but have played in the road in each year since.
"With people looking for affordable family entertainment this summer and a number of families staying local for the Fourth of July, we're happy to be able to provide post-game fireworks in addition to nine-innings of baseball and Spinnertainment," said Goode.
The Human Home Run is on deck for July 5, when Smith will take the field following the completion of the Spinners game against the Connecticut Tigers. Following the show, the Spinners will conclude their Independence Day celebration with another post-game fireworks show.
"Where else are you going to be able to see nine innings of baseball followed by someone literally flying out of the ballpark," asked Goode. "To top it all off we have a fireworks show planned after the 'Human Home Run." Just another night of Spinnertainment!"
