-SPIKES FINISH FOUR-GAME STRETCH VS. JAMESTOWN: The State College Spikes conclude a stretch of four straight games against the Jamestown Jammers with the final game of a two-game set at Russell Diethrick Park. It is the fifth run of four or more games against the same team for the 2011 Spikes, with one more left on the slate. State College is 24-32 against Jamestown all-time, and 12-17 all-time at Russell Diethrick Park.

-LAST GAME: The Spikes got a homer from Kirk Singer and came back from letting a two-run lead slip in the ninth inning to top the Jammers, 7-6, when Alex Dickerson scored on an error in the 12th inning of Sunday night's game at Russell Diethrick Park. Dickerson, whose ninth-inning error had enabled Jamestown to score the tying run, led off with a single in the 12th inning and advanced to second base on a passed ball. Samuel Gonzalez then walked, and when Derek Trent hit into a fielder's choice, the throw from Jammers shortstop Terrence Dayleg was wide of first, allowing Dickerson to come home.

-HAFNER BACK ON MOUND FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Ryan Hafner makes the start for the Spikes tonight after earning his first professional win last time out. Hafner allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over five innings against Vermont on Wednesday for the victory. The 17th-round pick of the Pirates in 2009, Hafner holds a 2.89 ERA in five road starts, compared to a 3.50 ERA in four home appearances.

-UNBEATEN HODGES TAKES BALL FOR JAMMERS: Jamestown right-hander Josh Hodges makes his 11th start of the year tonight, in search of his sixth victory of the year without a loss. Hodges has gone at least five innings in every start but one, with a season-long seven innings in a win over Hudson Valley on July 13 in which he did not allow a run. The righty was a seventh-round draft pick of the Marlins in 2009 out of junior college.
