-SPIKES TAKE ON CYCLONES TONIGHT: The State College Spikes continue their 10th Season this evening as they start a three-game road series against the Brooklyn Cyclones at MCU Park. The set will be the last interdivisional action the Spikes will see this year, with the remainder of the regular season featuring action against only Pinckney Division teams. The Spikes are currently third by a percentage point behind second-place Connecticut in the New York-Penn League Wild Card race, with both teams a half-game back of Lowell. Brooklyn is also bidding for an NYPL playoff berth as they sit just 1 1/2 games behind Staten Island in the McNamara Division standings, while also behind Lowell by the same distance in the Wild Card standings. The Spikes are 8-19 all-time against the Cyclones, including a 4-8 record at MCU Park.

-LAST GAME: The Spikes let go of a four-run lead, but Orlando Olivera capped a four-RBI night with a two-out, two-run single in the seventh as the Spikes completed a three-game sweep of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers with a 7-5 victory on Tuesday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Olivera collected a total of three hits on the night, with an RBI single in the first and a run-scoring double in the third. The Missouri Baptist product is now hitting .359 with 16 runs batted in over 19 games with State College. The Spikes took the lead early, countering a first-inning solo home run from the Scrappers' Ka'ai Tom with a pair of runs, the first scoring on Leobaldo Pina's triple. A three-run third ran the State College lead to 5-1 before Mahoning Valley tied it with a four-run fifth. Kender Villegas got the win in relief, with Jery Then earning the save.

-ALL-STAR BECK ON THE MOUND FOR SPIKES TONIGHT: The Spikes send their second straight NYPL All-Star to the hill this evening as right-hander Landon Beck gets the ball this evening. However, Badamo lasted just 2 2/3 innings against Lowell on August 4, and skipped his last start before returning to the rotation tonight. Badamo, the 2014 24th-round draft choice of the Mets, posted a 1.74 ERA over 10 appearances with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Mets last year.
