Stars can't solve San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX - The Iowa Stars and the San Antonio Rampage wrapped-up their back-to-back two-game set on Saturday night in San Antonio. Despite out-shooting the Rampage 25-20, the Stars fell 2-0 to the Rampage, with the second goal coming via an empty-net.

After a scoreless first 20 minutes, recently acquired center Joel Perrault scored at the 14:53 mark of the second period. The former Anaheim Mighty Duck was acquired by San Antonio's NHL affiliate, the Phoenix Coyotes, at the trading deadline on Thursday.

Randall Gelech sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with :52 seconds remaining in the game. Joe Callahan picked-up his second assist of the game on the goal

Stars goalie Mike Smith faced 19 shots in the loss, while David LeNeveu earned his first shutout win for the Rampage.

NEXT GAMES: The Stars make maiden voyages to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on Monday the 13th, Manchester, New Hampshire on the 15th, Rochester, New York on the 17th and finally wraps up the trip with a Sunday, March 19th game in Toronto. Iowa returns home for three games on Saturday, March 25th against Houston, Sunday the 26th and Tuesday the 28th against San Antonio. Doors open for all games, one-hour before face-off.
