Hamilton, ON - Jaroslav Halak stopped all 25 shots that he faced and Brad Winchester scored twice to lead the Bulldogs to a 5-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phantoms at Copps Coliseum Satruday evening. The win improved the Bulldogs' record to 30-34-0-3.
Hamilton opened the scoring 11:00 minutes into the first period when Brad Winchester picked up a Marc-Antoine Pouliot pass at the sideboards and centered the puck to Andrei Kostitsyn who one-timed it behind Phantom goalie Martin Houle.
The Dogs' extended their lead when J.J. Hunter banged home a Pierre Dagenais rebound at 14:26. Just 21 seconds later, Pouliot won the face-off and Winchester snapped a high shot past Houle. Jamie Storr replaced Houle in the Philadelphia net with 4:04 remaining in the first period.
At 9:19 of the second period with Hamilton on the power play, Winchester scored his second of the night when he buried a Dagenais rebound.
Dagenais put the Dogs' up 5-0 at 6:42 of the third frame when he one-timed a Duncan Milroy pass from the slot with Hamilton on a two-man advantage.
It was Halak's third shutout in his last six games and he was named the game's third star. Houle made 14 saves on 17 shots and Storr made 27 saves on 29 shots for the loss.
Hamilton was 2 for 9 on the power play while Philadelphia went 0 for 3.
