February 23, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, Va. - Last week, the Norfolk Admirals fell to 3-3-0-1 on their season-long eight game homestand. This week, the Admirals will conclude the homestand against the Charlotte Checkers on Friday night before taking a quick weekend road trip with games against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Albany Devils.
On Tuesday night, the Admirals suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Hershey Bears at Scope. Despite putting up 35 shots on net Friday night, the Admirals couldn't beat Penguins netminder Brad Thiessen, as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defeated Norfolk 3-0. In the Saturday rematch, Mark Barberio tied the game at 1-1 with 3.3 seconds remaining, but the Admirals failed to convert in the shootout as the Penguins skated away with a 2-1 victory.
The Admirals will square off against the Charlotte Checkers Friday night at Scope in the finale of the homestand. Fans will be able to visit the Stanley Cup at Scope prior to and during the game.
