
Anaheim Recalls Ray Emery; Assigns Timo Pielmeier to Syracuse

Syracuse, NY (February 23, 2011) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Anaheim Ducks have recalled goaltender Ray Emery and assigned goaltender Timo Pielmeier to Syracuse.
Emery, 28, appeared in three games for the Crunch after being signed by Anaheim as a free agent and assigned to Syracuse on February 8, making his debut and appearing in his first professional game in over a year on Friday, February 18 vs. San Antonio. While with the Crunch, Emery went 2-1-0 with a 2.62 goals against average and .925 save percentage. He backstopped the club to a 7-1 win over Rochester on February 19, stopping 37 of 38 shots and denied 34 of 37 shots and three of four shootout attempts in a 4-3 win over Charlotte on February 22.
A native of Cayuga, Ontario, Emery has appeared in 163 career NHL games with Ottawa and Philadelphia since the 2002-03 season, going 87-51-15-11 with a 2.70 goals against average .907 save percentage and 11 shutouts. He skated in 29 games with the Flyers last season, going 16-11-1-3 with a 2.64 goals against average and .905 save percentage before getting sidelined with a hip injury.
Pielmeier, 21, has appeared in 27 games with the Crunch this season, going 10-14-1 with a 3.33 goals against average and .901 save percentage. In addition, he has appeared in one game with Anaheim, making his NHL debut on Saturday, February 19 at St. Louis, coming into the game in relief of Curtis McElhinney in the second period. Pielmeier has also manned the net in two games for Elmira (ECHL) this season.
A native of Deggendorf, Germany, Pielmeier spent last season with the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors, where he went 27-22-5 with a 3.29 goals against average and .883 save percentage and participated in the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game. He was acquired by Anaheim along with Nick Bonino from San Jose in exchange for Kent Huskins and Travis Moen on March 4, 2009.
The Crunch continue their five-game home stand on Friday, February 25 vs. Binghamton at 7:30 p.m. at The Oncenter War Memorial Arena.
