St. Cloud Rox News Release
St. Cloud, Minn. -* The St. Cloud Rox and the Thunder Bay Border Cats kicked off their four game series Monday night at Joe Faber Field. St. Cloud defeated the Border Cats by a final score of 12-3.
The Rox got off to a good start right away in the bottom of the first inning as Bradley Strong posted a lead off single. With two outs Luke Weber earned the walk and was followed with a single by Chris Paul taking the Rox to a 1-0 lead.
A lead off single would get the Rox started again this time by Daniel Comstock in the bottom of the second. Comstock would then steal second and move to third off a double by Strong. A pass ball would then score Comstock for a 2-0 lead over Thunder Bay. St. Cloud kept the inning alive as they continued to score five more runs all at which the Rox had two outs on the board. The Rox ended the inning with an 8-0 lead.
Thunder Bay would post two runs in the top of the fourth. Kyle Hann hit a solo home run to lead off the inning and a later single would score their second run of the inning to trail 8-2.
It was not until the bottom of the sixth when the Rox would post another four runs to the board as they would again get into a two out situation and continue to score. Blake Headley was the lead off batter recording a single and Comstock followed with another single and both advanced on the throw. With one out on the board the Rox would load the bases as Strong was intentionally walked. Two additional walks with two outs tallied another two runs making it a 10-2 game for St. Cloud. A single by Paul would bring home the final two runs to lead 12-2.
The Border Cats would only score one more run in the game off a bases loaded walk in the top of the seventh inning.
St. Cloud would hold Thunder Bay to only three runs for a 12-3 win.
Earning his first start on the mound at home was Jason Hoppe as he pitched five innings only allowing two runs and posting his first win of the season.
