Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release
Battle Creek, MI- The Battle Creek Bombers used a six-run, six-hit inning Tuesday evening at C.O. Brown Stadium to top the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, 9-4. Jackson Slaid added two hits, including an extra base hit in the eight inning, but the Rafters left 10 men on base for the second consecutive evening to drop to 2-4 in the first six games of the second half.
Brad Stroik was flawless through his first four innings of work, scattering four base hits while leaving four runners on base, but Stroik ran into a wall to begin the fifth inning. Daniel Cuejen led off by reaching on a walk and Joe Serrano followed with a double down the right field corner to score the first run of the game. The hit by Serrano was part of a six-hit inning that included a two-run home by the Bomber left fielder, Matthew Fears. By the end of the fifth inning, the Bombers held a convincing lead, 6-0.
Erik Payne led the Rafters offensive attack in the sixth inning when the Virginia Tech Hokie reached on his second hit of the game on a well-struck single up the middle. Zack Belanger would reach on a walk and Cort Brinson would bring both around on his second extra base of the season to plate Belanger and Payne to draw the Rafters within four at 6-2.
Battle Creek pushed across another run in the bottom of the sixth when Cam Gibson reached on a single to left and scored on a double down the left field line by Kade Scivique to successful end the Rafters threat, 7-2.

The loss dropped the Rafters to 4-2 this season against the Battle Creek Bombers and 2-3 on their current six-game road trip.
