Bombers Win First of Second Half

Battle Creek, Mich - The Battle Creek Bombers (1-6) defeated the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (3-3) 9-4 for their first win of the second half of the season.

The two teams battle to a scoreless draw into the bottom of the 5 th inning where the Bombers offense went to work. Daniel Cucjen walked to start the frame and with one out Joe Serrano singled. The next batter Cam Gibson doubled to plate Cucjen and Serrano. Gibson then came around to score on a Kade Scivicque single. The very next batter, Matthew Fears hit the big blow though. He blasted his 4 th home run of the year to left field giving the Bombers a 5-0 lead, and they weren't finished. Tyler Moore singled to keep the inning alive and scored on a Matthew Goodson triple. Battle Creek led 6-0 at the end of the 5 th . The Bombers plated another run in the 6 th as Gibson scored on a Scivicque double.

The Rafters would not get on the board until the 6 th inning when they touched up Ben Dartnell for a pair of runs. Tyler Moore however would get those two runs back in the bottom of the 8 th inning. He took the first pitch he saw over the right field wall for a two-run home run, his first of the year. David Stagg (W 2-2) started and went five scoreless innings while striking out six. Gabe Berman finished the job in the 9 th inning. Brad Stroik (L 2-3) went four and two-thirds surrendering six runs and striking out seven for Wisconsin Rapids. The Bombers will welcome in the La Crosse Loggers for a two game series starting tomorrow at 7:05 p.m.
