Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - For the second time during the 2019 season, the Altoona Curve will have a promotion featured on SportsCenter AM's "Minor League Promotion of the Week" on Saturday, June 29, the team announced on Friday. The team last appeared on the Saturday, May 18 episode for the team's Slimed Ghost Bustin' jersey's that celebrated the 35th anniversary of Ghostbusters.
A season-long, seven-game rebranding from the Curve name in brick and bronze to the Yinzers black-and-yellow threads, the franchise has garnered plenty of national attention from the part-time, promotional name change. All season long, the Yinzers jerseys are presented by Keller Engineers.
"First of all, the reaction from our fans and their energy has been incredible during our first three Yinzer games," said Curve general manager Derek Martin. "I've never seen so much black and gold at a Curve game until those other three Yinzer nights. Not only Yinzer gear from our own merchandise store, but to see the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins hats, shirts and jerseys all together is really special."
Saturday's Yinzers game will feature a license plate giveaway, presented by ARC Federal Credit Union and The Award Man. The next two appearances on Saturday, July 6 and Friday, July 26 will feature fireworks shows with Pittsburgh musical ties.
The Yinzers uniforms will be auctioned off on Thursday, August 8 during the final appearance of the jerseys. Fans will be able to bid at the ballpark and through the LiveSource App. The proceeds from the game-worn jersey auction will benefit the Roberto Clemente Foundation.
In addition to the specialty jersey's throughout the season, the team welcomed online sitcom star Curt Wooten as Pittsburgh Dad to Peoples Natural Gas Field on June 13. The Pirates Pierogies visited from Pittsburgh to be part of the first Yinzers game on Saturday, April 13.
Speaking of pierogies, the popular Pittsburgh side has been available at the Curve concession stands at each Yinzers game. Fans are also able to upgrade their burgers to Pittsburgh-style with toppings of fries and slaw.
Catch the Allegheny Yinzers in action on June 29, July 6, July 26 and August 8 at PNG Field. For tickets or more information, visit AltoonaCurve.com, call 877.99.CURVE or stop by the PNG Field box office. Additionally, the Stockyard Team Store carries the latest Allegheny Yinzers merchandise at the ballpark and online 24/7/365.
