Nate Pearson Named to 2019 MLB All-Star Futures Game Roster
June 28, 2019 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH - RHP Nate Pearson will represent the Toronto Blue Jays and New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) at the MLB Futures Game on All-Star Sunday, July 7 in Cleveland, Ohio. The game will air at 7 p.m. ET on MLB Network.
The Futures Game is an annual showcase of the best young talents in Minor League Baseball, and debuted in 1999 as part of All-Star Week at Fenway Park. Former Futures Game stars include Mike Trout, Jose Altuve, Justin Verlander, Jose Reyes, Yoan Moncada, Alfonso Soriano, Miguel Cabrera, and 2018 Fisher Cat Bo Bichette.
Pearson, the 28th overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, is ranked No. 41 among all prospects in baseball by MLB.com. Pearson is also listed as the top pitching prospect in the Blue Jays organization. Pearson will suit up for the American League All-Star Futures Team, managed by Hall of Famer Jim Thome.
The 22-year-old from Odessa, Florida is 3-1 with a 1.89 ERA in 14 starts this season between Advanced-A Dunedin and New Hampshire. With the Fisher Cats, he's posted a 2.70 ERA while striking out 31 batters in 26.2 innings.
In Pearson's last nine Double-A innings, he's allowed nothing but an infield single with no walks and nine strikeouts. Pearson (6'6", 245 lb.) regularly hits triple digits on the radar run, and still shows impressive command for a young flamethrower; he's averaging just 1.5 walks-per-nine-innings this season.
Pearson and the Fisher Cats will return home to Delta Dental Stadium on July 4 to play the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) in a four-game weekend series. For tickets and information, visit nhfishercats.com.
