
Spirit Head to Royal City to Face Storm

Guelph, Ont. - The Saginaw Spirit (16-26-1-0) return to the ice Friday night in the second of back-to-back games against the Midwest Division's Guelph Storm (21-16-3-1), this time at the Sleeman Centre in Guelph. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Head-to-Head
Tonight, is the fourth of five scheduled meetings between the Spirit and Storm with Guelph winning the previous three meetings. The most recent coming last Saturday night in a 7-3 decision at The Dow Event Center. Saginaw and Guelph last met at the Sleeman Centre on Dec. 10, where the Spirit were unable to secure a 3-0 first period lead and fell 5-3 on the road.
Last Time Out
Saginaw: Last Saturday evening, a five-goal opening period for the Guelph Storm doomed the Spirit in a 7-3 loss. Calumet, Michigan native Dean Loukus scored a score and an assist, while 2022 NHL Draft eligible Pavel Mityukov tallied two assists.
Guelph: Wednesday night, the Storm made the short trip to London to face the first-place Knights. Guelph held a 2-1 advantage on two Matthew Poitras goals, but Landon Sim and Antonio Stranges scored to take a 3-2 lead. With the Guelph net empty late, Ethan MacKinnon filled it from his own zone for his first OHL goal to secure a 4-2 Knights victory.
