Rockford IceHogs News Release

Milwaukee, Wis.- Special teams did the Rockford IceHogs in on Friday night as the American Hockey League club dropped a 4-1 decision to the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center.

With eight power-play opportunities, Rockford came up empty on all of them on Friday while allowing two power-play tallies on four Milwaukee chances.

Rockford notched the only first period goal to grab the 1-0. Rob Klinkhammer picked up an Adam Hobson pass, stepped out in front of Milwaukee goaltender Drew MacIntyre and beat him for his 12th goal of the season at 15:06. Tim Hambly also assisted on the goal.

The IceHogs had an opportunity to extend the lead with a five-on-three power play, but MacIntyre and the Admirals penalty kill snuffed it out to keep it 1-0 at the first intermission.

Milwaukee countered with a power-play goal in the second period to tie the game at 1-1. Defenseman Cody Franson blasted his seventh goal of the season through traffic at 3:54 past Antti Niemi. Cal O'Reilly and Mike Santorelli assisted the goal.

The Admirals took their first lead of the night at 4:30 of the third period when Geoff Peters hacked in a Ryan Maki rebound in for his third goal of the season. Maki then made it 3-1 at 6:57 of the frame picking up an IceHogs turnover and beating Niemi over the blocker for his fourth goal of the season.

Santorelli later iced the game with the Admirals second power play goal of the night and his 15th goal of the season at 15:06. O'Reilly and Franson marked assists on the goal.

The IceHogs outshot Milwaukee 27-19 in the game and the loss snapped Rockford's four-game road winning streak. The IceHogs are now 4-1-0-0 on their season long seven game road swing.
