Carolina Reassigns Bobby Hughes To Florida

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that center Bobby Hughes has been reassigned by the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League to the Florida Everblades of the ECHL for a three-game conditioning assignment.

Hughes, 21, has missed Albany's last 37 games this season due to a lower body injury; in seven games played for the River Rats this year he has two points (1 goal, 1 assist) and four penalty minutes. The Richmond Hill, Ontario native was drafted by the Hurricanes in the fourth round (123rd overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and has 18 career AHL points (7 goals, 11 assists) in 33 career games (all with Albany).

Hughes' three-game conditioning assignment with Florida will be his first career ECHL games: Friday, February 6th at South Carolina; Saturday, February 7th at South Carolina and Sunday February 8th at Charlotte. Hughes is expected to rejoin Albany on Sunday night following the Everblades' game at the Charlotte Checkers.

Albany has just one game on the schedule this week, as they host the Portland Pirates on Saturday, February 7th for a 5:00 pm face off at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
