
Falcons Host The Devils Tonight

The Springfield Falcons and Lowell Devils meet for the eighth time this season when they battle on Friday night at the MassMutual Center starting at 7:30 pm. The Falcons are 4-3-0-0 against the Devils this year and Springfield has won the last two games in the season series. The Falcons swept a home-and-home series a few weeks ago when Springfield beat Lowell 3-0 on January 17, followed by a Falcons' 3-1 victory on January 19 in Lowell. Following tonight's contest, Springfield and Lowell will not meet again until February 27 at The Nest.
Falcons goaltender Devan Dubnyk has posted a record of 4-2-0 in six games against the Devils this year with a 2.18 goals against average and .914 save percentage. Ryan Potulny leads the Falcons in goals against the Devils this year with five. Rob Schremp is tied with Potulny in scoring against the Devils with one goal and five assists for six points in six games. Carl Corazzini and Bryan Lerg each have two goals against the Devils this year.
Pascal Rheaume leads Lowell in scoring against Springfield this year with two goals and five assists for seven points in five games played. Jon DiSalvatore and Vladimir Zharkov are second in scoring against the Falcons with two goals and three assists for five points each. Goaltender Jeff Frazee has a record of 2-2 with a 2.77 goals against average and .915 save percentage in four games against Springfield this campaign.
The Falcons start a busy weekend on home ice tonight as Springfield will host three home games in the next three days. The Falcons will also be looking to snap a 0-3-1-0 skid in their last four games. Springfield currently has a record of 16-24-6-1 good for 39 points. The Falcons start tonight's action nine points behind the Lowell Devils in the standings.
The Devils head into Springfield looking to snap a two-game losing streak after winning three straight contests. Lowell currently sits in fifth place in the Atlantic Division standings with a record of 22-21-1-3 good for 48 points and five points behind the fourth place Portland Pirates. The Devils will have a rare Saturday night off tomorrow before hosting the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday afternoon.
PLAYER MOVEMENT: The Springfield Falcons announced Monday that they have recalled forwards Geoff Paukovich and Garet Hunt from their ECHL affiliate, the Stockton Thunder.
Paukovich has spent the majority of the 2008-09 season with the Falcons collecting one goal and three assists for four points and 34 penalty minutes in 27 games with Springfield. In six games with the Thunder, he has registered one goal and four penalty minutes.
This will be Hunt's first regular season recall to Springfield after playing in the preseason with the Falcons. Hunt has totaled five goals and nine assists for 14 points and a team-leading 186 penalty minutes in 42 games with Stockton this year. The Maple Ridge, British Columbia native is in his first pro season after spending four years with the Western Hockey League's Vancouver Giants from 2004-2008.
DEVILS PLAYER NOTES:
Right wing Jon DiSalvatore continues to lead the Devils in scoring with 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points in 46 games played. He is also tied for third in power play goals on the year with four and leads the team in shorthanded markers with two.
Chad Wiseman leads Lowell in power play goals with six on the campaign. He is also tied for third on the club in goals with nine.
Goaltender Jeff Frazee continues to lead all Lowell goaltenders in games played (30), goals against average (2.53), wins (17) and save percentage (.926).
Michael Swift leads all Lowell rookies in scoring with nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points in 31 games. Rookie Vladimir Zharkov leads the Devils with a +13 rating.
