SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - With the Famous San Diego Chicken in town for Monday's First Place Faceoff between the Schaumburg Boomers and Traverse City Beach Bums, the Boomers free Independence Day Celebration on July 3rd will feature autograph opportunities from former White Sox outfielders Carlos May and John Cangelosi as well as the opportunity to take batting practice off former Sox and Chicago Cubs pitcher, Steve Trout.
As if free admission, free parking and free fireworks weren't already enticing enough and with neighboring townships forced to cancel their fireworks displays because of the dry weather, the Boomers decided to add a little extra to analready jam-packed, FREE event on July 3 at Boomers Stadium.
Boomers First Base Coach and two-time White Sox All-Star Carlos May and fellow former Sox outfielder John Cangelosi will join Steve Trout at the event. Don't miss your chance to try and take one deep off a Major Leaguer with two rounds of pitches from Trout for just $50! Limited space remains for batting practice and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis so call the Boomers at 847.461.3695 now!
Looking for an extra-special way to celebrate Independence Day? The Boomers and Levy Restaurants invite you to join us on this night for an all-you-can eat picnic served for 90 minutes in the Boomers picnic area. A $15 ticket to the picnic must be purchased in advance by 5 p.m. on MondayJuly 2nd by calling the Boomers Box Office at 847.461.3695 and the menu includes: all-beef hot dogs, charbroiled hamburgers, mustard potato salad, coleslaw, fresh watermelon, assorted cookies, popcorn, soda and water!
The Boomers Stadium gates will open at 6 p.m. with entertainers on the concourse, the Levy Restaurants concessions stands open for business and the inflatables in Coop's Kids Corner ready to wear out your little ones. After the conclusion of batting practice, May, Cengelosi and Trout will be available on the concourse for photo opportunities and to sign autographs!
The Boomers will invite people onto the field for an 8 p.m. showing of the timeless baseball movie The Sandlot. Bring your blankets (no chairs) onto the outfield grass and watch this classic film with your family on our brand-new Daktronics HD videoboard.
Around 9:30 p.m. when the movie concludes, the rest of the fun begins with the main attraction, the Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular from the best in thebusiness, Melrose Pyrotechnics. It wouldn't be a Boomers event without everyone running the bases and the tennis ball toss to close out the night so stick around after the fireworks and practice your home run trot!

6:30 p.m. - Batting Practice on the field off former Cubs and White Sox Pitcher Steve Trout
7 p.m. - Autograph Signing begins: Carlos May, Steve Trout & John Cangelosi
7:45 p.m. - Fans enter the field for movie showing on HD Videoboard
8 p.m. - The Sandlot begins
9:30 p.m. - Fireworks Begin after movie ends
10 p.m. - EVERYONE runs the bases
10:30 p.m. - Tennis Ball Toss, WIN CASH!
