METAIRIE— The Nashville Sounds (53-39) defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs (51-42) 5 to1 on Wednesday afternoon in Nashville.

Dave Williams picked up his third win of the season for the Sounds as they put the game away with three runs in the eighth. Mark Corey retired Eric Cole to end the game to pick up his league leading 26th save of the season. Doug Sessions suffered his second loss of the season allowing two runs in seven innings of work. The Zephyrs fall 2 ½ games behind the Sounds in the PCL Eastern Division.

The Z's will begin a four game home stand on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. The Zephyrs will face the Sacramento River Cats, the Class AAA Pacific Coast League Affiliate of the Oakland A's. Thursday is Thirsty Thursday with 1.00 Soft drinks and Beer with Post Game "In to Win" Contest where fans can win $500. Ken Vining (3-2, 5.14) is scheduled to start for the Zephyrs and Mike Wood (5-1, 3.80) for the River Cats.
