Gonzalez and Bell Lift 'Winders in Sacramento

Edgar Gonzalez allowed just one run in seven innings of work Tuesday night and Mike Bell hit two home runs in Tucson's 9-3 win over Sacramento at Raley Field.

Tucson improved to 5-1 against the best team in the league and 17-8 against their South Division foes. The Sidewinders pulled with 9.5 games of the first place River Cats, the first time Tucson has been within single digits of the games back column since May 24th.

Gonzalez improved to 7-2 with the win, allowing four singles and the one run while striking out three.

Mike Bell started the scoring in the second inning off Sacramento starter Erik Hiljus when he hammered a two-run homer to left field.

Bell became the fourth Sidewinder to homer twice in a game when he slugged a solo shot inside the foul pole in the fifth inning. Bell finished with ten total bases and four RBI.

Doug Devore pushed Tucson's lead to 5-1 in the seventh when he despoited his seventh of the year in the Sacramento bullpen scoring Billy Martin who had walked.

Danny Bautista finished 1-4 with a single and one RBI in his second rehab game with the 'Winders.

The Sidewinders improved to 46-44. Tucson and Sacramento finish off the three-game series Wednesday night at Raley Field (7:05 p.m.) Lance Cormier (1-1 4.08) will start for Tucson against the River Cats Justin Duchscherer (8-2 2.96).
