Sound Tigers Sign Ruegsegger to PTO

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Dec. 9, 2011) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today they have signed forward Tyler Ruegsegger to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Ruegsegger, 23, joins the Sound Tigers after amassing 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) in 22 games with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL this season . The Lakewood, CO native made his professional debut last season splitting time with Alaska and Utah of the ECHL, combining for 29 points (16 goals, 13 assists) in 58 regular season games.

The 6-0, 185-pound forward also made his AHL debut with the Abbotsford Heat, recording one goal and four assists in 12 contests.

Ruegsegger turned pro last season after the conclusion of his collegiate career at the University of Denver where he played alongside current Sound Tigers Rhett Rakhshani and Matt Donovan. A sixth round (166th overall) pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Ruegsegger notched 46 goals and 67 assists in 147 career games with the Pioneers.
