Kuemper, Fontaine Lead Aeros to 1-0 Win

December 9, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Houston Aeros News Release

HOUSTON (DEC. 9) --- Goaltender Darcy Kuemper made 33 saves and Justin Fontaine scored his seventh goal of the season as the Houston Aeros shut out the San Antonio Rampage 1-0 Friday in front of 6,616 fans at Toyota Center to remain tied for first place in the AHL's Western Conference.

Kuemper, who was making his fifth start of the season, recorded his first professional shutout as Houston improved to 15-4-2-5. Houston's two points, coupled with a win by Oklahoma City over Peoria, kept the race for both the No. 1 spot in the West along with the league's top spot deadlocked.

Fontaine put the Aeros up 1-0 with a power play goal at 8:29 in the second period off a pass from Jeff Penner.

Jacob Markstrom made 25 saves for San Antonio.

The Aeros continue their four-game homestand hosting the Peoria Rivermen on Sunday at 5:05 p.m.
