Bridgeport Islanders News Release
NORFOLK, VA - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, shutout the Norfolk Admirals 1-0 on the road Saturday. It was the Sound Tigers' first-ever win at Norfolk Scope.
The Sound Tigers opened the scoring with a four-on-four goal by Eric Manlow off an assist from Ryan Kraft with 2:41 left in the first period. It was Manlow's seventh goal of the season and his fourth in the last five games in which he has dressed; he missed two home games last weekend while battling a severe case of the flu.
The Manlow goal held up as the game-winner even though the Admirals pulled Goaltender Craig Anderson in favor of an extra attacker inside the final minute of play.
Sound Tigers Goaltender Wade Dubielewicz made 23 saves for his fourth shutout of the season to earn first star of the game honors. Anderson made 19 saves in a losing effort and was the second star. Manlow was the third star of the game.
The Sound Tigers finished the game 0 for 5 on the power play while Norfolk was 0 for 3 and had a 23-20 shots on goal advantage.
The Sound Tigers will continue the stretch of six straight road games and eight of their next ten away from home tomorrow in Norfolk. Tomorrow's game will be web cast live at www.soundtigers.com beginning at 3:45 p.m.
