Binghamton Senators News Release

The much anticipated rematch between the Binghamton Senators and the Philadelphia Phantoms was a relatively quiet affair Saturday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena with the visitors leaving town with a 2-1 win.

As the teams settled into the game which had just 34 combined penalty minutes, Philadelphia grabbed a 1-0 lead late in the first period as Nick Deschenes drilled a Kirby Law rebound past Ray Emery (28 saves) with 1:10 to go in the first period.

Binghamton countered with its third power play goal in two games when Chris Kelly redirected Julien Vauclair's left point drive past Star of the Game Neil Little (26 saves) at 6:31 of the middle period to tie the contest at 1-1.

The Phantoms then notched the game-winner after a loose puck was sent to the front by Ian MacNeil. Emery got a piece of the drive with his right leg pad, but couldn't find the loose puck, which slid just across the goal line at the 11:26 mark to put Philadelphia up 2-1.

The Sens pressured early in the third period, but were continually thwarted by Little, who stopped all 13 shots in the final period.

While absorbing another one-goal loss, the Sens fell five points behind fourth place Wilkes-Barre, 2-1 winners in Portland. They remained a single point up on sixth place Norfolk who dropped a 1-0 decision at home versus Norfolk.

Binghamton hits the road to Chocolatetown tomorrow for a 5:00 p.m. face-off against the Hershey Bears. The Sens then return home for three straight at the Arena Wednesday versus Syracuse, Friday against Albany, and Saturday versus the Norfolk Admirals.
