Capitals Assign Gordon to Pirates

Washington, DC – The Washington Capitals, the National Hockey League affiliate of the Portland Pirates, on Saturday reassigned right wing Boyd Gordon to the Pirates, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced.

Gordon, 20, a first-round selection by the Capitals in 2002, has appeared in 40 games this season for Washington, recording one goal and five assists. In his first season in the NHL, Gordon has yet to play in an American Hockey League game.

Gordon is expected to be in the lineup on Saturday night as the Pirates host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:05 p.m.
