Columbus Recalls Johnson

Syracuse, NY (January 10, 2004) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Aaron Johnson.

The Crunch's lone representative at the 2004 AHL All-Star Classic, Johnson, 20, has appeared in 30 games with Syracuse this season, recording 4 goals, 10 assists and 44 penalty minutes. Johnson made his NHL debut with Columbus on December 2 against the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. On December 4, Johnson recorded his first NHL point, an assist, against Nashville. In three games with Columbus this season, Johnson has one assist and two penalty minutes. Last season, Johnson split time between Rimouski of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (25gp, 4g, 20a, 41 PIM's) and Quebec (QMJHL) (32gp, 6g, 31a, 41 PIM's). A native of Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, Johnson was Columbus' fourth pick, 85th overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft.

Syracuse host the Rochester Americans on Saturday, January 10.
