Bridgeport Islanders News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, UT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, scored two goals 1:40 apart to tie and then beat the Utah Grizzlies 2-1 in overtime on the road Saturday. With the win, the Sound Tigers swept a two-game weekend series in Utah in their only Western Conference road trip of the season. They are also on a three-game winning streak on the road and are unbeaten in regulation in five straight games overall at 4-0-0-1.

Utah opened the scoring 3:27 into the first period with a shorthanded goal by Mattias Tjarnqvist, his second goal of the season, during the first power play of the night. Bubba Berenzweig and Justin Cox assisted on the play.

Both goaltenders, Wade Dubielewicz of the Sound Tigers and Utah's Jason Bacashihua, played well during a scoreless but up-tempo second period in which the Grizzlies had a 14-13 shots on goal advantage.

Less than a minute after killing a late Utah power play, the Sound Tigers tied the game as Justin Mapletoft redirected a Cail MacLean shot for his fourth goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1 with 1:10 left to play. Blaine Down, making his first appearance of the year following off-season shoulder surgery, also assisted on the equalizer which extended Mapletoft's point-scoring streak to eight games.

The Sound Tigers then completed the comeback on a beautiful goal by Ryan Kraft just 30 seconds into overtime. Kraft, who upped a goal-scoring to three games on the play, took a feed from Captain Alan Letang, crossed the Utah blue line and blasted a turn-around slap shot past Bacashihua for his third goal of the season.

The Sound Tigers were 0 for 5 on the power play and 2 for 2 on the penalty kill. They outshot Utah 33-30 including 14-2 in the third period and 1-0 in overtime.

Dubielewicz made 29 saves for his second win in as many appearances. Bacashihua made 31 saves in a losing effort.

Kraft was the first star of the game, Utah Defenseman Jeff MacMillan the second, and Tjarnqvist the third.
