
Monarchs Name Seeley Captain; Assign Nault To Reading

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings (NHL), have named defenseman Richard Seeley captain for the 2003-04 season. The team has also assigned defenseman Francis Nault to the Reading Royals of the ECHL, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Seeley, 24, is in his third season with the Monarchs and his fifth season in the Kings system. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound native of Powell River, British Columbia, leads the Monarchs with a plus-5 plus/minus rating and has one goal and four penalty minutes in nine games this season.
Seeley, a two-time winner of the Monarchs Community Service Award, appeared in 69 games with the Monarchs last season recording a career high 18 points (4-14=18) and a career high 127 penalty minutes. He was selected by the Kings in the sixth-round (137th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, and has 31 points (7-24=31) and 209 penalty minutes in 139 career games with the Monarchs.
Seeley is the second captain named to lead the Monarchs. Former right wing and current Assistant Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Dane Jackson served as the Monarchs captain during the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons.
Nault, 24, recorded no points and four penalty minutes in nine games with the Monarchs this season. The 5-foot-11, 192-pound native of Tracy, Quebec, also registered a plus-2 plus/minus rating during his tenure.
The Monarchs host the Lowell Lock Monsters tonight (7:35 p.m.) at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Single seats in the Gold Level and 600 seats in the Silver Level remain for tonight's game.
