Corazzini, Thomas pace P-Bruins' tie in Worcester
November 1, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins continued their weekend road trip on Saturday night in Worcester, battling the IceCats to a 4-4 tie. The Bruins are 4-3-2-0 on the season (10 points).
Providence right wing Carl Corazzini scored his first two goals of the season, while also adding an assist. His third period goal was the game-tying goal. Defenseman Zdenek Kutlak tallied his second goal of the season on a first period power play, and center Ted Donato, making his P-Bruins debut, notched a shorthanded goal.
Goaltender Tim Thomas turned in another strong performance, stopping 41 of the 45 shots he faced. He is now 1-2-2 on the season, and is an unbeaten 1-0-2 against Worcester.
Prior to Saturday's game, head coach Scott Gordon named veteran defenseman Rich Brennan as the team's captain. The 30-year-old native of Schenectady, New York was the P-Bruins' captain in 2002-03 before being recalled to the Boston Bruins on January 14. He was selected to play in the 2003 AHL All-Star Classic, his AHL-record seventh All-Star Classic. Brennan could not participate after sustaining a season-ending ankle injury while playing for Boston on January 28.
The Bruins conclude the weekend when they visit the Springfield Falcons on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. All the action will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550.
The Bruins return home to host the Lowell Lock Monsters on Friday, November 7 and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, November 8. Both games get underway at 7:05 p.m.
