
Thrashers Assign Piros, Recall Gamache

The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned center Kamil Piros to the Chicago Wolves and recalled left wing Simon Gamache from Chicago.
Piros registered one assist and two penalty minutes in 11 games with the Thrashers this season. Overall, the 24-year-old forward has recorded three goals, four assists and seven points in 22 National Hockey League games spanning three seasons (2001-02 to 2003-04) with the Thrashers, which includes a hat trick in a four-point effort (3G, A) against the Tampa Bay Lightning on April 6 last season.
The 6-foot, 195-pound Piros finished with 10 goals, nine assists and 19 points in 51 games with the Wolves last season. Overall, Piros has tallied 29 goals, 39 assists and 68 points in 115 American Hockey League games with Chicago. A member of the 2002 Calder Cup Championship team, Piros shared seventh in the AHL and fifth on the team with 17 points (6G, 11A) while playing all 25 games during that playoff run. The Most, Czech Republic, native ranked third on the Wolves with 49 points and 30 assists in 64 regular-season games in 2001-02.
Gamache shares the team-lead with six points (3G, 3A) in eight games with the Wolves this season. The Thetford Mines, Quebec, native was recalled to Atlanta last season, posting two penalty minutes and three shots in two games, which includes his NHL debut on March 7 against the Florida Panthers.
The 22-year-old forward paced the Wolves and tied for third in the AHL with 35 goals last year, while finishing second on the team and fifth in the league with 77 points (35G, 42A). His 16 power-play tallies led the team and shared second in the league.
Overall, Gamache has notched 40 goals, 49 assists and 89 points in 109 AHL games with the Wolves spanning the last three seasons (2001-02 to 2003-04).
