SLC Stars Make Two Selections in 2022 NBA G League Draft

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, selected forward Elijah Lufile and guard Armon Fletcher in the 2022 NBA G League Draft.

Lufile (6-7, 280, Oral Roberts) was selected with the 25th pick in the second round (No. 56 overall) after playing three seasons at Oral Roberts (2019-22). The Toronto, native appeared in 54 games (13 starts) with the Golden Eagles, averaging 6.8 points and 6.2 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game.

Fletcher (6-5, 207, Southern Illinois) joins the Stars after being selected with the 29th pick in the second round (No. 58 overall) following a four-year career at Southern Illinois (2015-19). The Edwardsville, Ill., native appeared in 117 games (81 starts) for the Salukis, pulling down averages of 11.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 steals in 26.8 minutes per contest.

Additionally, Fletcher has international experience appearing in 38 games (22 starts) since the 2019-20 season, splitting time between Kangoeroes Basket Willebroek of the Belgium-Scooore League and Residence Walferdange of the Luxembourg Total League. The 26-year-old owns career international averages of 15.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 steals in 27.1 minutes per game.

"We have been extremely active this offseason in all aspects of the organization, culminating with the G League Draft," said Stars general manager Marquis Newman. "The Stars are heavily invested in the development of our players and establishing a winning culture. We think Elijah and Armon fit perfectly into what we are trying to achieve, and we are excited to welcome them to our organization."

The Salt Lake City Stars' training camp begins on Monday, Oct. 24. The team opens the 2022-23 campaign on Sunday, Nov. 6 in Henderson, Nev. against the G League Ignite. The Stars' first game at their new home arena, the Maverik Center will be on Monday, Nov. 21 against the Santa Cruz Warriors.
