Mad Ants Draft Abu Kigab 13th Overall in NBA G League Draft

The Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the NBA G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers, participated in the 2022 NBA G League Draft on Saturday.

The Mad Ants owned the 13th overall pick in the opening round, where they selected Abu Kigab, a 6-foot-7 forward who played for the Toronto Raptors in the 2022 NBA Summer League.

Kigab finished his college career with Boise State after starting his college career at Oregon. He averaged 14.8 points, 5.7 points and 2.4 assists per game during the 2021-22 season with Boise State and was named Second Team All-Mountain West for the second straight season. He was also the Mountain West Tournament MVP in 2022

Kigab is originally from the Sudan and moved to the Canada at age nine. Kigab competed for Canada at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Cup and the 2016 FIBA Americas U18 Championship. In July 2017, he was a key player on a Canada team that captured gold at the FIBA U19 World Cup, averaging 14.7 points and 10.6 rebounds, as well as 2.3 assists per game. For his efforts, he was named to the tournament's All-Star Five.

Kigab joins the Fort Wayne Mad Ants training camp roster, that will be announced Sunday, before training camp begins on Monday, October 24.
