Skeeters End Road Trip with Loss in Round Rock

(ROUND ROCK, Texas) - The Sugar Land Skeeters powered three home runs but dropped the series-finale against the Round Rock Express, 8-7, on Tuesday night at Dell Diamond.

The Skeeters led Express 7-5 heading into the bottom of the eighth, but a three-run home run from Ryan Dorow off Michael Kelly put Round Rock up for good on the night.

Garrett Stubbs walked to lead off the ninth inning, and eventually moved to third, but Scott Engler was able to secure the save.

Jose Siri, Colton Shaver and Marty Costes each delivered home runs in the win. Siri hit the first of the trio of homers, with a three-run shot to center field in the third inning. Siri's home run, his 13th of the season, traveled an estimated 431 feet.

Shaver hit his eighth home run since joining the Skeeters, with a solo shot traveling an estimated 422 feet in the fourth inning. Costes hit the first Triple A home run of his career to left field, sending a solo shot an estimated 458 feet in the sixth inning.

Robel Garcia got the Skeeters on the board in the first inning with an RBI double off Round Rock starter Jake Latz, scoring Stubbs. The Skeeters scored an additional run on a ground-ball double play off the bat of Michael Papierski.

Skeeters starter Brett Conine took a no-decision, allowing five runs on six hits, while striking out four, through five innings of work. Right-handers Bryan Abreu and Enoli Paredes each tossed scoreless innings in relief.

Following a Wednesday off-day, the Skeeters begin a 12-game homestand, beginning at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday at Constellation Field against the Albuquerque Isotopes.
