?NORFOLK, VA. - After a frustrating final two periods, the Admirals fell, 6-2, against the South Carolina Stingrays at home. Déjà vu set in for Norfolk fans as the South Carolina Stingrays scored six goals for the second consecutive time in Scope Arena.

The Admirals struck first when Braden Christoffer sniped one past South Carolina netminder, Mark Dekanich, at 13:27 of the opening frame. Greg Chase picked up the helper when he passed it to Christoffer in the neutral zone. In an impressive individual effort, Christoffer split two Stingray defenders opening a lane in the slot, putting the Admirals up, 1-0.

Less than three minutes later, Chase grabbed his 17th goal of the season. As Danick Gauthier carried it out of his defensive zone and through center ice, he spotted Chase near the net. Chase widened the score, 2-0, after he wristed the puck glove side past Dekanich at 16:14.

However, with nine seconds remaining in the first, South Carolina forward Austin Fyten redirected the puck behind Nicklas Lundstrom. Fyten's goal cut Norfolk's lead in half and began a string of six unanswered goals for South Carolina.

Thirty seconds into the second frame, and just 40 regulation seconds after their first goal, Caleb Herbert tied the game for South Carolina. Just four minutes later, Zajac would tally the go-ahead goal, scoring his first of two on the night. He would close out the second period with his second goal, giving South Carolina a 4-2 lead heading into the third period.

Two more Stingrays goals came during the third period, securing a 6-2 victory over the Admirals. As Alexis Loiseau sat in the penalty box for goaltender interference, Joe Devin scored on the power play at 8:40. Then, just under two minutes later, Herbert snatched his second tally and final marker for South Carolina.

Lundstrom made his Admiral debut blocking 20 of 26 shots, while Dekanich stopped 27 of 29 attempts. Both teams had two power play opportunities; the Stingrays converted on one, while Norfolk went scoreless.

The Admirals conclude their final game of the season Saturday night against the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:15 p.m.
