Americans Close out Regular Season at Home this Weekend
April 8, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, TEXAS - The Allen Americans (40-23-3-4) play out the regular season schedule this weekend with back to back home games against the Evansville IceMen (28-33-7-2), kicking off Fan Appreciation Weekend tonight at 7:05 PM.
The Americans are winners of three straight, and four of their last five games. Allen kicked off the homestand on Wednesday night with a 7-4 victory. Allen Co-Captain Chad Costello led the way with four helpers and now has 101 points on the season. He was also named to the All-ECHL First Team yesterday, for the second consecutive season.
"Chad has had another outstanding year," said Head Coach and GM Steve Martinson. "What he's been able to accomplish here in two seasons is pretty special."
Costello comes into tonight's contest on a 17 game point streak, which is tied for the longest in Allen Americans history. The 17 game marker was set by Nino Musitelli, in year one of the organization (2009-2010), and Costello last year.
The club needs a win tonight, or a Colorado loss to lock up the number four seed in the Western Conference, and home-ice through Round 1 of the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, so as a part of the special night, the Allen Americans players will wear special pregame jerseys on Friday night that will be auctioned off in a silent auction during the game, with the money raised going to the Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County (CACCC) to Stand Up for Collin County children that have been victims of child abuse or neglect.
