Silver Hawks Walk off Over Lugnuts

South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend, IN - David Narodowski's bases loaded single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the South Bend Silver Hawks to a 5-4 walk off win over the Lansing Lugnuts on Wednesday night at Coveleski Stadium. It was the Silver Hawks' second walk off win this season and it gave the team a series opening victory over Lansing.
After Lansing tied the game in the top of the ninth inning, Ramon Castillo led off the bottom half with a sharp double to left center against reliever Brandon Berl (ND). A bunt single by Roberto Rodriguez and an intentional walk to Ender Inciarte loaded the bases for Narodowski. Already with two singles on the night, Narodowski lined the second pitch he saw into center field to score the game's winning run.
Since joining the Silver Hawks when Zach Walters was traded to the Washington Nationals organization, Narodowski has filled in admirably with a .387 average and three RBIs. He already has four multi-hit games in nine appearances for Michiana's team.
The late rally gave the win to Chris Odegaard (WP, 4-0), who was one out away from picking up the save in the top of the ninth. Odegaard had been in since the seventh and had two outs with the bases empty before committing an error on a comebacker from Markus Brisker, and then allowed back-to-back singles that tied the game.
Tyler Green (ND) also turned in a solid outing in the starting role, allowing only two runs over 5.0 innings. Despite struggling with his command at times, Green was in position for his fourth win before the late Lugnuts rally.
All nine batters for South Bend had a hit in the game, led by Narodowski's three singles and two doubles with two runs from Ramon Castillo. Matt Helm also had two hits while Gerson Montilla and Roberto Ortiz added the other RBIs.
The two teams continue the three game series on Thursday evening with another 7:00 PM Eastern Time first pitch. RHP Mike Bolsinger (5-5, 3.06 ERA) will start for the Silver Hawks against Lansing's RHP Tyler Powell (2-3, 5.09 ERA). Pre-game coverage begins at 6:40 PM Eastern Time on www.sportsjuice.com and www.silverhawks.com.
