
Quad Cities drops first game 12-6, salvages series finale 6-5

Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The Quad Cities River Bandits split Tuesday's doubleheader with the Beloit Snappers, losing the first game 12-6 before winning the last game 6-5 in front of 914 fans at Pohlman Field in Beloit, Wisc.
Quad Cities outhit the Snappers in the first game 13-11, but was outscored 12-6. Jonathan Rodriguez (3-for-4) hit his team leading 14th homer in the 4th inning to help tie the game at four. The Bandits then allowed a run in the bottom of the fourth and seven in the fifth inning. Kolten Wong was also 3-for-4 in the game.
Bandit starter Ryan Copeland (L, 4-2) went 4.1 innings and allowed nine runs on six hits. The lefty also walked four. A.J. Achter got the start for the Snappers and allowed six runs over three innings of work. Bart Carter (W, 1-1) relieved Achter in the fourth and pitched two scoreless innings to pick up his first victory of the season.
In the second game, Quad Cities got off to an early lead when Mike O'Neill singled to score Kolten Wong (3-for-4) in the first inning. Geoff Klein (1-for-3) then hit a three-run homer in the second inning to put the Bandits up 4-1. Mike O'Neill singled to score Kolten Wong (3-for-4) in the first inning. The Bandits scored two more runs in the fourth when Wong hit his fourth homer of the season. The Bandits held on to win 6-5 and split the series.
Bandit starter Drew Benes pitched three innings and allowed two runs on four hits. Justin Edwards (W, 3-1) relieved Benes in the fourth and allowed three runs over two innings in the win. Iden Nazario (S, 1)pitched a perfect nine inning striking out all three batters he faced to pick up his first save.
The Bandits return home Wednesday to take on the Burlington Bees, including a River Bandits hat courtesy of Modern Woodmen. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. at Modern Woodmen Park It's also a Belly Buster Wednesday where fans can get all-you-can-eat specials.
