Lansing Lugnuts News Release
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Lansing Lugnuts (26-19, 64-48) battled back to tie the game in the top of the ninth, but the South Bend Silver Hawks (21-24, 55-59) received a bases-loaded single from David Narodowski to win 5-4 at The Cove on Wednesday night.
After K.C. Hobson delivered a game-tying single in the top of the ninth inning with two outs, Narodowski came through for the Hawks with a single off reliever Brandon Berl (Loss, 3-3).
Chris Odegaard (Win, 4-0) worked the final three innings for South Bend, and vultured the win off starter Tyler Green, who befuddled the Lugnuts for a second straight outing.
After getting two runs in the third and fourth innings off starter Sean Nolin, the South Bend bats were held at bay by reliever Sam Strickland, who worked three and a third innings, and kept the Silver Hawks off the scoreboard.
Lansing received run-scoring doubles from Eli Boike and Markus Brisker to go along with the RBI single by Hobson, but struggled overall with runners in scoring position. The Lugs left six runners at second or third, going 2-for-12 in RBI opportunities.
In the past five games, Lansing is 7-for-52 (.135) with runners in scoring position.
The Lugnuts start right-hander Tyler Powell (2-3, 5.98) in game two against the Silver Hawks' righty Mike Bolsinger (5-5, 3.06), set for a 7 p.m. start time on Thursday.
The Lugs return to action at Cooley Law School Stadium on Saturday, August 13, with LAFCU Fireworks following the series-opener against the TinCaps. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
