JACKSONVILLE, FL - With the Mobile BayBears (23-16) down to their final strike of the ballgame, Jake Lamb drove a 1-2 pitch over the wall in left for a go-ahead three-run home run, ultimately guiding the BayBears to a 6-4 win over the Jacksonville Suns (17-22) Wednesday afternoon at Bragan Field.

RJ Hively (W, 2-2) earned the win for Mobile after working a 1-2-3 bottom of the eighth inning, with Jimmie Sherfy (SV, 1) picking up his first Double-A save in shaky fashion as he walked three batters in what ended up being a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.

Justin Nicolino did not factor into the decision on Wednesday, allowing three runs (all earned) on seven hits in 5.2 innings of work, while walking a pair of batters and striking out three BayBears.

Collin Cargill and Greg Nappo pitched in 1.1 and 1.0 innings of scoreless ball respectively in relief of Nicolino, with Nick Wittgren (L, 1-3; BS, 3) blowing the save and taking the loss for the Suns after allowing three runs (all earned) on two hits in the ninth inning.

The BayBears drew first blood, receiving a Sean Jamieson leadoff home run and a Jon Griffin RBI double in the frame to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.

It took until the bottom of the third inning for the Suns to break through offensively as Justin Nicolino came down to score on a RBI single through the left side of the infield by Danny Black to cut Mobile's lead to 2-1.

The Suns took a 3-2 lead after five innings thanks to a Danny Black RBI groundout and an Alfredo Silverio RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The BayBears would pull the game level at 3-3 in the top of the sixth after Tom Belza's sacrifice fly scored Jake Lamb from third base.

Alfredo Silverio helped the Suns take the lead for the second time on Wednesday with a RBI groundout in the bottom of the seventh, pushing Jacksonville in front 4-3.

The BayBears were down to their final strike in the top of the ninth inning before Jake Lamb (HR, 6) drilled an opposite-field three-run homer over the wall in left to give Mobile a 6-4 lead in stunning fashion.

The Suns loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the ninth but were unable to bring any runs across.

The Suns will head west to begin a five-game series with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos starting on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Suns send out right-hander Jose Urena (3-2, 5.63) while the BayBears will counter with right-hander Daniel Corcino (3-3, 3.97) for Thursday's series opener at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.
