Montgomery Biscuits News Release

PEARL, Miss. - The Biscuits (21-18) could not get to starter Jason Hursh (3-2) as the Mississippi Braves (20-19) were able to hold on to an early lead in a 5-2 win over Montgomery to take the series on a rainy Wednesday afternoon at Trustmark Park.

Hursh struck out four through the first two innings and did not find himself in trouble until the sixth inning with the Braves leading 4-0. Willie Argo and Taylor Motter led off the sixth with consecutive-singles. After two fly outs, Jeremy Moore drew a walk to load the bases. On a payoff pitch, Jake Hager slapped a single up the middle to score two runs and cut the Braves' lead in half.

The Braves took advantage of two walks from starter Michael Colla in the second inning. With two outs, Barrett Kleinknecht blooped an RBI-single into left-centerfield to put Mississippi on the board. The Braves put up a three-spot in the fourth inning with a two-run single from Braeden Schlehuber and a run-scoring single from Mycal Jones to lead 4-0. Schlehuber drove in the final run of the game in the sixth to make it 5-2 Braves.

The Biscuits bullpen threw well again, tossing two scoreless innings with Matt Lollis and Andrew Bellatti.

Motter and Hager led the offense with two hits each.

The game saw 42 minutes worth of rain delays. First pitch was delayed by rain in addition to a rain delay in the second inning.

The Biscuits will continue on their 10-game road trip when they open a five-game series with the Jackson Generals at General Park Thursday night. RH Jared Mortensen will toe the rubber for the Biscuits while the Generals will send out LH Tyler Olson. First pitch is slated for 7:05.
