Lamb Lifts BayBears over Suns

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The Mobile BayBears (23-16) extended their win streak to four games with a 6-4 victory over the Jacksonville Suns (17-22) Wednesday afternoon at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The BayBears were trailing by one run with two outs and down to their final strike in the top of the ninth when Jake Lamb connected on a three-run homer to give Mobile a 6-4 lead and the eventual win.

Sean Jamieson gave Mobile an early advantage when he hit the second pitch of the game over the wall for a solo home run. Two batters later, Jon Griffin pushed the BayBears lead to 2-0 with a RBI single.

The Suns tied the game and took a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning. Brent Keys and Alfredo Lopez reached on back-to-back singles. With one out, Keys scored on RBI groundout from Danny Black and Alfredo Silverio delivered and RBI single that plated Lopez for a 3-2 Suns lead. Mobile again tied the game in sixth but Jacksonville reclaimed the lead in the seventh inning with one run, giving the Suns a 4-3 lead.

The lead held until the ninth inning when Lamb hit the three run homer on a 1-2 count with two outs off of Suns reliever, RHP Nick Wittgren. They righty was pegged with the loss, dropping him to 1-3 on the season.

RHP Mike Lee did not factor in the decision, allowing just three runs on eight hits in 5.0 IP.

R.J. Hively (2-2) earned his second win of the season after working a scoreless eighth inning. RHP Jimmi Shefry was credited with his first Double-A save after recording the final three outs in the ninth.
