Shutout snaps four game skid

AVON, Ohio - Four Crushers combined to toss Lake Erie's third shutout of the season, as the Crushers snapped a four game losing streak with a 7-0 victory over the Washington Wild Things at All Pro Freight Stadium on Saturday night.

For the Crushers, (29-34) the victory snapped a four game skid, and was their fourth against the Wild Things this season. The loss for the Wild Things (28-34) was their second in their last three games.

Lake Erie's offense scored seven times on 10 hits. The seven runs were three more than they scored in their previous series against Joliet. They scored multiple runs in three innings, and took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Kellen Kulbacki stroked a two out triple to score Jereme Milons, and Kulbacki scored moments later on a wild pitch.

Jason Taylor began the fourth inning with a walk, and Evan Sharpley followed with a base hit. Taylor scored on Kyle Shaffer's double, and Sharpley came home on Chris Luick's sacrifice fly.

The Crushers scored three times in the sixth inning to put the game away. Jodam Rivera started the inning with a one out base hit, and Luick walked with two outs before Patrick Norris drove them both home on a double. Norris scored moments later on Milons's second single of the night.

Thomas Campbell (1-0) tossed six sensational innings for the Crushers to score the victory. Campbell allowed just a hit over six scoreless innings and struck out nine batters. In addition, he retired the final 11 batters he faced, while striking out seven of the final nine. Travis Risser, Robert Wendzicki, and Ruben Flores all tossed scoreless innings of relief.

Gary Lee (1-3) allowed seven runs on ten hits over five and two-thirds. All three of Lee's losses this season have come against the Crushers.

Milons, Kulbacki and Rivera paced the Power with two hits apiece. Milons extended his on base streak to 15 games with a 2-for-5 performance, and Andrew Davis reached twice on a single and a walk to extend his on base streak to 34 games. All nine batters reached at least once for the Crushers.

The Crushers will continue their three game series against the Washington Wild Things at All Pro Freight Stadium on Sunday evening. Right Hander Josh Roberts (6-4, 4.26) will start for the Crushers, and the Wild Things will counter with right hander Casey Barnes (5-3, 1.99).The first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 PM.
