CRESTWOOD, Ill. - Three Rockford pitchers combined on a five-hitter on Saturday as the RiverHawks beat Windy City, 2-1, at Standard Bank Stadium.

Chris Nyman (1-1) shut out the ThunderBolts on three hits over 6 2/3 innings for the win. Brett Durand pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his 14th save.

Rockford led from the first inning on. Jake Eigsti hit a sacrifice fly in the first and Freddy Parejo doubled the lead with a fifth-inning single.

Devin Shepherd singled in an eighth-inning run to break the shutout.

Windy City starter Bryant Cotton (5-6) gave up two runs, one earned, on five hits over 6 1/3 innings and took the loss.

The series continues at 6:05 p.m. Sunday.

The RiverHawks' next home game is 7:05 p.m. Tuesday against Southern Illinois. Petco sponsors Dog Days of Summer. Fans are invited to bring their pooch to the park. It's also a Thompson's Transmissions Kids Eat Free Night.
