ERRORS PILING UP: The Shorebirds lead the South Atlantic League with 25 errors through 11 games. No other team has committed more than 20. Charleston has made 19 defensive miscues this season. The 'Birds have committed 10 errors through three games of the current series.
KING CONLEY: Shorebirds right fielder Brian Conley recorded his sixth multi-hit game of the season last night. He is second on the club with 15 hits. In 29 games for Delmarva last season, Conley registered a total of 10 hits. He is hitting .632 with the bases empty and .111 (1-9) with runners in scoring position.
LEFT-RIGHT SPLITS: The Shorebirds are hitting .320 against right-handed pitching (79-247) and .229 against lefties (35-153). Ty Kelly and Steve Bumbry have struggled against southpaws. Kelly is 0-13, while Bumbry is 2-14 with seven strikeouts.
DALLES ON DL: In the 12th inning of yesterday's game, Steven Souza plowed through 'Birds catcher Justin Dalles to score the go-ahead run. Dalles was placed on a backboard and taken away in an ambulance. He was placed on the DL today. A timetable for his return is not known at this time.
LUIS BERNARDO IS BACK: Due to the Dalles injury, the Orioles have added Luis Bernardo to the Shorebirds roster from Frederick. Last season in Delmarva, Bernardo hit .213 in 82 games behind the plate. In four games for the Keys this season, Bernardo is hitting .154 (2-13).
5 STRIKEOUTS: Steve Bumbry struck out five times in yesterday's game. Bumbry has fanned a team high 17 times this season. He ranks second in the SAL in that category.
EXTRA, EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT: The Shorebirds have recorded 51 extra base through the first 11 games of the season. They have 31 doubles, 13 home runs and seven triples. The 'Birds have hit 63 singles on the season.
SAL LEAD IN HR'S: The Shorebirds lead the South Atlantic League in home runs with 13. Kolodny leads the league with six long balls.
MOST HOMERS SURRENDERED: Shorebirds pitching has allowed 12 home runs this season, most in the South Atlantic League. The Suns have hit five home runs through three games of the series.
HOME RUN RECORD?: Although it is early, Tyler Kolodny is on pace to shatter the Shorebirds single-season record for home runs, owned by Calvin Pickering, who hit 25 in'97.
