MMA Champion Frank Edgar To Throw Out First Pitch At Thursday's Game

LAKEWOOD, NJ - MMA Lightweight Champion Frank Edgar, a native of Toms River, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch at Thursday's BlueClaws game, which begins at 6:35.

Edgar, a Toms River East graduate, defeated BJ Penn in a unanimous decision on April 10th to become the fourth ever MMA Lightweight Champion.

He wrestled in high school, making it to the New Jersey state championship tournament twice, and is now an assistant coach for the Rutgers University wrestling team.

The first 2,000 fans that attend Thursday's game will receive Earth Day Spruce Tree Seedlings courtesy of Honda of Freehold. There will also be a postgame Light Bulb giveaway.

Like every Thursday, it will be a Thirsty Thursday. $1 beers and sodas, plus 50-cent wings will be available in the Coors Light WRAT Trap in centerfield.
