Hickory Crawdads News Release

HICKORY, N.C. - The Crawdads fell to the Kannapolis Intimidators, 7-0, in front of a crowd of 612 at L.P. Frans Stadium Monday night.

The Intimidators (5-7) got off to an early start with two runs (one unearned) in the first against 'Dads starter LHP Robbie Ross (1-2, 3.95 ERA). LF Kyle Colligan doubled to center, scoring RF Jordan Cheatham from first. Colligan then moved to third on a passed ball by C Leonel De Los Santos and scored on 1B Ian Gac's grounder to short. Ross then held the Intimidators scoreless over his next three innings and struck out five of the last six batters he faced before being relieved on the mound.

Hickory (5-7) had a two-out rally mounting in the fifth inning. LF Cristian Santana singled to keep the inning alive and back-to-back walks to 3B Joe Bonadonna and 2B Edwin Garcia loaded the bases for SS Leury Garcia. Kannapoils starter LHP Joe Serafin (2-1, 2.60 ERA) then induced a flyout to center to get out of the inning.

Cheatham pushed the Indimitadors lead to 3-0 with a home run to deep right field off RHP Hector Nelo. They tacked on three more runs in the sixth and another in the ninth to cap the scoring at 7-0.

Ross gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks, while fanning six to get saddled with the loss for Hickory. Serafin lasted six innings, allowing just three hits and three walks with six strikeouts to pick up the win for Kannapolis.
