Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Jarred Cosart pitched six shutout innings, and the Lakewood BlueClaws cruised to a 5-0 victory Monday night for their first three game winning streak of the 2010 season.

Cosart (3-0) picked up his league-leading third win, allowing just three hits and one walk, striking out ten.

The BlueClaws took an early lead in the third. Jiwan James drove in a run on a groundout with the bases loaded, and Leandro Castro brought home two more with a triple to give Lakewood a 3-0 lead. They'd add two more insurance runs in the seventh, but they wouldn't need them.

BlueClaws pitchers have now thrown 25 straight scoreless innings dating back to the second inning of the their 7-1 win on Saturday. Lakewood outscored Greensboro 22-1 in the last three games of their four game set.

Taking the mound Tuesday for the BlueClaws will be Phillies starter Joe Blanton. Blanton is rehabbing from a Spring Training injury, and will become the third Phillie to play at FirstEnergy Park since 2001. Blanton will be opposed by Hagerstown RHP Trevor Holder (0-1 4.15). First pitch is set for 6:35 pm.

ClawsNotes:Coming into Saturday's game the BlueClaws had been struggling with runners in scoring position, but are 14-37 combined in the past three games.

MMA Lightweight Champion Frank Edgar will throw out a ceremonial first pitch at FirstEnergy Park on Thursday. Edgar, a Toms River native, became the fourth lightweight champ on April 10th defeating BJ Penn in Abu Dhabi.
