PREVIEW: Following a 6-5 loss in extra innings last night, the Shorebirds look to level the series in game two. Leighton Pangilinan hit a single to the warning track in left-center to end the game in the bottom of the 11th. The Shorebirds recovered from 4-2 down after six innings and scored first in extra innings before falling short.
BAKER'S PERFECT: David Baker retired all 11 batters that came to the plate against him yesterday. He has now retired 26 consecutive batters over his last four appearances. Baker has tossed 8.2 perfect innings in the month of June.
NO RUNS IN FIRST FOUR INNINGS: During this four game losing skid to Kannapolis, the Shorebirds have not scored a run in the first four innings. In fact, the Shorebirds have just five combined hits in the first four innings of the last four games.
NARRON'S NIGHT: Connor Narron notched his third three-hit game of the season last night. He also connected on his seventh home run, a team high. In the month of June, Narron is batting .379 (22-of-58). Narron ranks second amongst Orioles minor leaguers in the month (Robbie Widlansky, Double-A, .431). Narron leads the farm system with four home runs in June.
SAWYER DRIVES IN TWO: Wynston Sawyer went 2-for-5 in game one with two RBIs in the fifth inning. Sawyer has hit safely in three straight games dating back to the first half.
PLANETA ON THE ROAD: Mikey Planeta is batting .320 on the road this season after a 2-for-5 game last night. He is hitting just .232 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
HITLESS STRETCHES: The Shorebirds have a few players that are stuck in hitless stretches: Glynn Davis (0-for-13), Brenden Webb (0-for-9), Mychal Givens (0-for-13).
