Intimidators Rout Shorebirds 12-3 in Game Two

Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds (28-42, 0-2) went scoreless over the final five innings and dropped game two of the series 12-3 to Kannapolis on Friday night at CMC-Northeast Stadium.

Kannapolis scored the first run in the first inning on a single into right field by Mark Haddow.

The Shorebirds proceeded to score the next three runs. In the second, Gabriel Lino doubled with one out. He reached third on a wild pitch and scored on a balk to tie the game.

In the third, the Shorebirds took their first lead. With one out, Brenden Webb hit his sixth home run of the season to center field. Then, Nicky Delmonico and Jason Esposito reached on back-to-back walks. Delmonico scored on a high chopper to left field by Mikey Planeta to give the Shorebirds a 3-1 lead.

The Shorebirds managed just one hit the rest of the night.

The Intimidators exploded for 11 unanswered runs on 17 hits between the fourth and eighth innings.

Kannapolis capped a four run fourth inning with a two run double down the left field line by Grant Buckner, which gave the Intimidators a 5-3 lead.

The Intimidators put the game out of reach in the seventh inning with six runs.

Reliever Ryan Buch earned the win over three scoreless innings while Shorebirds starter Eduardo Rodriguez was tagged with the loss over five innings. He yielded ten hits and six runs.

The Shorebirds and Intimidators play game three of the series on Saturday night at 7:05pm. RHP Miguel Chalas is the scheduled starter for Delmarva.
