Goodwin's Blast Launches Suns over Lakewood 5-1

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (43-28) used the long ball to beat the Lakewood BlueClaws (27-44), 5-1, at Municipal Stadium on Friday evening.

Brian Goodwin blasted the game winning three-run home run, his fourth of the season, to cap a four-run rally in the second inning. Matt Skole later blasted his league leading 15th home run of the season, a solo shot in the seventh inning, to complete the scoring for the winners.

Suns pitcher Taylor Hill (7-4) earned his team best seventh win of the season, delivering seven innings without allowing an earned run. Hill gave up just one run of four hits, with five strikeouts. Suns starting pitcher, Cole Kimball, pitched one scoreless inning with two strike outs in a Major League rehabilitation assignment for the Washington Nationals.

BlueClaws starter Ramon Oviedo (1-5) suffered the loss, his second to Hagerstown, allowing four runs on six hits over 4.1 innings. Aaron Altherr had two hits, including a double, and the lone BlueClaws RBI of the game.

The Suns will play game three of the series with the BlueClaws on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. when RHP Bobby Hansen, Jr. (0-0, 2.57) makes his second start for the Suns. BlueClaws' right-hander Colin Kleven (4-5, 3.80) will oppose him.
