PREVIEW: The Shorebirds hit the road for a short four-game road trip against the Kannapolis Intimidators. The Shorebirds won just two of seven games during their most recent homestand against Greensboro and Lakewood. The Shorebirds were swept by Kannapolis at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium between April 11 and April 14. The 'Birds stand in fourth place in the Northern Division, 4.5 games back of Hagerstown.
WITHOUT MACHADO: The Shorebirds will play their 15th straight game without 3rd overall pick Manny Machado, who injured his left knee on May 5 against Asheville. The Shorebirds are 7-7 without Machado. The Shorebirds have dropped four of their last five games.
BACK-AND-FORTH: The Shorebirds schedule will send them in and out of Salisbury over the next three weeks. The Shorebirds will not have a homestand or road trip longer than four games until June 12-19 when they travel to Kannapolis and Hagerstown.
16-GAMER FOR KELLY: Ty Kelly takes a career high 16-game hitting streak into game one against Kannapolis. He is 28-of-64 (.438) during the stretch. His average has sky-rocketed from .290 to .367 during the 16-gamer. Kelly's streak is the second 16-game hitting streak of the season for Delmarva. Jonathan Schoop had a 16-game hit streak from May 1 to May 17.
1 RUN IN LAST 18: The Shorebirds have scored just one run over the last 18 innings (two games). They went 17 straight innings without a run between games 1 and 3. The Shorebirds were shutout in game two against Lakewood and did not score until the ninth inning in game three yesterday.
12-GAME ON BASE: Mike Flacco has reached base in 12 straight games dating back to May 7. He takes a five-game hit streak into action tonight (9-18, .500).
